My client has 1095A shared with other family member not on the tax return (this tp is 75% and other family member 25%)
The taxpayer has excess repayment about $6500
Tp is on W2 (no health support from employer) and spouse is SE and one dependent
I filled out 1095A and filled in allocation part 75%
If I link health insurance for sche C, then the Proseries Professional does not support the allocation 75% and 25% as stated
If I manually calculate the SE health amount (Annual Enrollment premium =column A of 1095A) - Annual advanced payment of premium tax credit = collumn C of 1095A)+ Excess repayment of 8962 result, then entered in line 15 of sche C, then the formular circular of Excess repayment amount changed
Has anyone split the amount shown on 1095A and manually enter directly 75% (example it shows $1000, we entered directly $750) and link to sche C ) and dont have to allocate 75% and work?
I am worried that 1095A reported to IRS as number shown on 1095A. If we manually split/allocate and the number does not match with IRS record and cause audit attention. Has anyone do that and work out that way?
Note
I hav helped one client who had been audited for sch C and repayment of health insurance. I argued with the auditor that the repayment of health insurance must allow for SE health insurance deduction anyhow. She agreed and formular circular changed as said earlier. Finally, we were on the agreement to break even the amount (each side auditor and taxpayer half and half.
I would back up and ask if the client and the other family member can agree to allocate 100% to one tax return. That almost always has the best overall result, if they can agree to 'share' the better outcome.
Hello TaxGuyBill
I really appreciate you. This morning I tried different ways and found out exactly what you advised
SE Health coverage can deduct for spouse (no health insurance offer from employer), one dependent and one non dependent child under 26 yrs not on the tax return.
Yes I claimed 100% for taxpayer , link sche C, and get the best out come. Thank you again . The different is significant few k$
