Reminder: State and IRS e-file acknowledgement processing times

As the deadline approaches, you may experience longer wait times to receive an Accepted or Rejected status for e-filed returns.

Although the IRS and many states may process e-file submissions faster at other times of the year, it's normal for IRS acknowledgements to take one to three days, and for state returns to take two to five days.

Returns that don't get acknowledged within that timeframe are considered delayed, and you can find a list of current delays we're working with the tax agency to resolve in this article.

To check for new acknowledgements

You can check for status updates by going to your E-file Dashboard in ProConnect.

Additionally, you can force the program to retrieve the latest e-file status for a particular return by:

  1. Open the tax return.
  2. Go to the File Return tab.

The latest e-file status is always displayed here.
