Simplify Schedule D Input

JackR

The the ability to just input type "A" or "D" Totals without having to input dates or descriptions would simplify input. We should only need to list the Sales Price and Cost basis. "A" transactions are Short Term and "D" transactions are Long Term. You should not need to enter dates.

Proseries has a 1099-B input sheet that does this.

Thanks for the idea to simplify Schedule D input (like ProSeries 1099-B input sheet). We are changing the status to "Open for voting" since it is no longer considered "New".

That input is available in the detail portion of the entry. 1=short-term, 2=long-term [Override]

I just enter dates as -010100 for long and -010122 for long, then I use -010222 for sales date. Goes quickly in the Quick Entry

Do you have to enter the description?

Another option would be to put the override on the quick entry screen.

Honestly I use Lacerte and it is much easier there. I have memorized transactions from a drop down and use the settings to print on line 1a and 8a of Sch D when covered. That just puts totals on from the 1099B for almost all transactions. PCT has the advantage of being online, but it is much slower input than Lacerte.

Is memorizing transactions a feature in Lacerte?
