"self checkout" - automate payment, signature, and E-file

puravidapto

When a return is completed, our job is done. The rest should be a self serve, including the making a payment, signing and E-filing the return. This can save 15-30 minutes per return. I request this part be automated, please vote for the idea to increase the chance to be implemented.

This is like self checkout at stores, and has been already available in at least one software that I personally know.

Speaking only for myself, I prefer to handle all the admin for my clients and I know they would prefer to not have to deal with spending 15-30 minutes completing their returns. That's what they are paying me for and I build the time into my fees.

First of all, the 15-30 minutes are mostly time spent to track down the clients: did you pay, how do you want to pay, have you signed, etc. The actual work is just to click, click, and it takes no time. There isn't much value add in the process and it is hard to built into your fees. Even if it is possible, it is better to pass the savings to the client and you end up doing more professional work for other clients.

In many stores, there are self checkout lanes as well as cashier lanes. You can still handle things for your clients if you prefer, the key is the choice. I believe when you have more clients than time, the automation becomes important. Nowadays, payments are automated, doctor offices, highway tolls, lawn mowers, etc.
