Purchase additional credit to re-eFile a rejected return for a correction?

A-Z1040

Personal return got rejected after incorrect SS# was entered.

To correct re-eFile the return you have to create a copy as the SS# cannot be changed, update the SS# then use an additional credit to re-eFile the return THEN reach out to support to request a refund credit that takes 4-7 business days to process.

This is absolutely crazy and completely unnecessary. Seems to be another nickel and dime racket from Intuit.

Really?

I agree that this is not necessary, since the return is rejected, the credit should be refunded.

It is true that the return can be printed and filed, but this is impossible to track and should not be tracked at all. Even the filing by paper is free, I would still E-file. Intuit can do just fine by charging for E-filed returns, and the effort saved will compensate the loss revenue for the paper filed returns.

I have a broader idea: a SSN should be charged only once. Right now if I jointly filed for federal, and separately filing for state will be counted as one extra return.

Hello,

I am in this same situation right now. I am looking for a way to request a refund for purchasing additional credit to refile a rejected tax return for correction. Is there an easier way to do this apart from calling ProConnect Tech support? or customer service? just checking.
