Make direct debit and direct debit automated decided and default

When bank info is available, make the software automatically to choose it is direct debit or direct deposit. Often when I choose direct debit, after some changes, it becomes direct deposit and I have to uncheck direct debit box and check the direct deposit box. This is totally unnecessary since the computer knows. Also make the direct deposit and direct debit automatic, as there are a lot more people choose bank operation than a paper check.

I totally disagree. Your suggestion could cause some returns to automatically use a bank account that has been closed. Preparer needs to actively confirm either debit or deposit by verifying the bank account.

The suggestion to select direct debit if tax owed or direct deposit when there is a refund does not conflict with that "Preparer needs to actively confirm either debit or deposit by verifying the bank account".

In the same token, preparers needs to actively confirm the address, but this does not prevent that refund checks sent by mail being the default.

The other choice is a global firm wide option to use bank option when bank information was entered.

Please vote FOR the idea. Compare the alternative: tax not received or paid.

Why should a man have to check it has a refund or tax owed and then decide to check one box or the other, while the computer has the information already?
