This is my third year requesting that instructions for mailing Alabama form PPT be added back to the 1040 client instruction letter.
Issue: Taxpayers with an Alabama LLC taxed as a sole proprietorship have to file a form PPT each year. ProConnect generates this return, but does not efile it. In Diagnostics there is a "Suggestion" informing me of this. Previous to July 2020 there was also a paragraph in the client letter informing the client that this return had to be mailed. This instruction disappeared in June or July of 2020. I have been asking for this instruction to be added back to the letter since that date.
NOTE THAT these instructions still appear for entity returns (1065, 1120-S), where a paragraph instructs the taxpayer to mail the form. But the instructions are not included in the client letter for individual tax returns. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS OVERSIGHT THAT NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED.
PLEASE ADD THIS INSTRUCTION BACK TO THE CLIENT LETTER FOR INDIVIDUAL RETURNS.
PLEASE update the 1040 client letter to instruct the client to mail AL form PPT. We need this prompting to remind the client that mailing is required!
