Where should 1099-PATR's be entered?
Thank you. He is not a Farmer but rents out Pasture land.
So what causes him to get the Patronage dividends?
Personal expenditures at the coop?
I don't think he'd have hardly any expenses for the pasture..
No, not a lot of expenses and not a lot of income from pasture rental last year.
He is now retired but he did work teaching agriculture and he had done some farming previous to that.
Thank you for your replies.
Same Question. Taxpayer receives patronage dividends from shares in an ethanol plant. Taxpayer is retired and not farming. Can he file the 4835 to avoid the self employment now that he is retired?
No 4835 is not appropriate. Does he still purchase from the coop?
Or are the Patronage Dividends retainages that are being distributed now?
He has never farmed. He bought shares in an ethanol plant and they pay his dividends on a 1099 Patronage dividend instead of on a K1. The majority of people who bought shares are farmers who supply corn to the ethanol plant. He clearly does not owe self employement now that he is retired but do not think it goes on F or dividend line.
I would put on other income line and label it, move on.
Thanks for your input
