I have a loss on NJ-1040NR line 20 and the instructions are to enter ZERO (0) on column B, however, PTO does not do that automatically, how and where do I force a zero amount?

It does look like the program is treating the blank line as a 0, however. In other words: the line may not show a 0 but it is not impacting the calculation of the NJ 1040 NR.
Does that seem to be the case or am I off base on that?
Hello noemibookkeeper!
In this case, is there an issue with a calculation or are we just visually looking for a zero instead of a blank line in column B?
Thanks for asking Ross,
Since the amount is a loss it should translate to a zero amount on column B, at least that's how I interpret per NJ-1040NR instructions.
Ross, to answer your question with more clarity, it's not so much a calculation issue I suppose but PTO should be able to enter a zero amount on line 20 column B if there is a loss or at least allow me to manually enter it but don't see HOW? or better yet WHERE? on PTO?
Well Ross, I might take that back because if I preview the return, Click on line 20 to attempt PTO to take me to the input screen so I can force a zero amount, It does NOTHING! Any other line I click doe take me to the input screen, not the one I need: LINE 20!
Ross, definitely a calculated field - so a PTO issue not doing the correct output of a Zero for a loss on line 20!

Yes, that's correct. Just worried that there may be an issue with NJ later on
In this case there shouldn't be any errors/rejections because the information is being transmitted correctly (a loss is being treated as a 0). In some cases, we have to present forms a certain way to match the e-file schema- I believe that is the case here. If a rejection occurs/error occurs please myself or the customer success support team know!
I did submit it 20 hrs ago yet only "Received by Agency" status, hopefully, all goes well.
Great!
It may take longer than usual for acceptance due to volume of returns being filed 🙂
