My client extended his return on his own. Now he wants to pay part of the total amount owed. How do I enter this?

If he's paying electronically, I would probably enter it as a really late estimated tax payment.  If he's mailing a check, I would probably not enter it at all and let the IRS computer sort it out once the mail gets opened in 4 months.
