Intuit Link: How can we invite both the taxpayer and the spouse?

Actually, I have two questions about Intuit Link and 1040s in ProConnect. 1) How can we invite both the taxpayer and the spouse to Intuit Link? 2) When the spouse is the main contact, and the taxpayer doesn't want an Intuit Link how do we designate the invitations to go to the spouse instead of the taxpayer?

This feature makes life cumbersome for us. Change the email address under the client screen.  It's not good that it doesn't go to both and only ONE name appears when it's a joint return.  It looks sloppy on our part.  There is only one sign on for link for both taxpayer and spouse.  They must share.  It makes something that should be simplistic into something that's time consuming because we have to customize and think...Do I work with the main taxpayer or the spouse.

Hi tfoti, Thanks for the support. This is cumbersome and inconvenient. I am not new to ProConnect and Lacerte but am new to Intuit link. Since this post I have found that Link is very sensitive to email addresses. If anyone has or has had another intuit account at any time it causes problems. I have several clients who have had a poor client experience because of Intuit Link. It would be so much better if we could invite everyone who needs their own access to the portal whether they be spouse, Personal Representative, or caretaker with power of attorney. I can take care of informed consent if needed if that is what Intuit is worried about.

I feel your pain.  First year was a nightmare. Once they are in and setup, they sort of like it but it takes a lot of convincing to get them to liking it if setting up an account to begin with was difficult.  I had as many problems as it seems like you are having: sometimes an old intuit email worked, sometimes it didn't.  It wasn't super apparent how to set up an account because it just said "login here".  It was difficult for us to see what the client experience was.  Some people got locked out because they tried so many times it went into security mode. Customer service was ZERO help. Hang in there, smile and say "you are going to love it, once you are in".  And honestly the second time around is easier and clients are enjoying it.
