Efiling federal and state

Do I need to check for when I can efile a federal and state (NC) or will the software notify me...it won't allow me to (I read the TBD on the efile dates article) but the NC website says it is open and ProC says all of the forms are final?  I was thinking that Proconnect would allow us to efile and then send NC on to the state when they are set up?

Hi, the software will not automatically provide notification for specific state availability.  This article is the best resource for which states are available: 2025 ProConnect tax efile Agency Approval .  If you would like to file the Federal return in the meantime, you can simply uncheck North Carolina on the filing screen and it will allow you to file it.

Thanks...I filed just the Federal which has been accepted.  I went back into see if I can file the NC return yet, and it won't let me check the box to efile or uncheck the box to include with Federal...where can I uncheck or check the necessary box to file the NC returns?  I looked at the profile of the client also....help!  Thanks ahead of time!

Hi, I'm not in the office but saw your response so sending this from my personal account.  You will need to unlock the return.  If you are in the return, click on the "Return Actions" button in the upper right-hand corner.  Choose "unlock return".  That will then allow you to file North Carolina when it is ready.  It will not make any changes to the Federal filing that has already been accepted.
