Would really appreciate an answer to this.
ProConnect Tax does compute the subtraction correctly, in the event standard deduction is taken on the Federal return. You need to look to the instructions for DR 0104AD for what document you need to provide and the manner in which it should be furnished. Here's what it says:
For claims greater than $5,000, submit the receipts you received at the time of donation. For in-kind donations, submit an itemized list of the donated items and their fair market value. Submit using Revenue Online or include with your paper return.
Assuming you will e-file your client's CO return, you should generate a DR 1778 under General > Electronic Filing > e-file Signature Main Form, by clicking on the State & Local tab. Here, you'd enter a 2 for 1=attachments mailed, 2=uploaded in revenue online, check the box for Other documentation for credits/subtractions claimed (check the box and enter details), and explain what you'd attach in the box for Other (Explanation).
You or your client may then upload the F.8283 along with the duly signed and dated DR 1778 on the Revenue Online website.
