Parents are divorced and each one gets to claim child every other year. Mother is still single/head of household but father gets credit in 2022. How do I fill out return so that credit does not show up on mother's 1040?
When filling out the filing status fill in the information that gives the childs name and social security number. The child does not have to be a dependant to qualify the mother as head of household. Do not list the child as a dependent and that will take care of your problem.

Are you saying that the mother is the Custodial Parent? If so, there should be a way to indicate that the dependent exemption/credit is being given away via Form 8332. ProSeries has a drop-down 'code' list for the dependent, but I'm not sure how it is done it PTO.
That is what the person who made the original post. He said it was the fathers year to get the child care credit but did not want the mother to lose her head of household status. The father will list him or her as a dependent on his return and in return he gets the child care credit. Regarding the mother the child does not have to be her dependent to get head of household status>

But the child should still be entered in to the software. Besides Head of Household, correctly entering the child can affect the Earned Income Credit, the Dependent Care Credit, and possibly some other things.
That is why you should enter the child in the software, but indicate the the Child Tax Credit is given away via 8332.
