I have clients that moved from OK to Texas in 2023. They filed MFJ and part year resident for 2023. Now in 2024, only the spouse has OK income the taxpayer doesn't so they want to file MFJ for Federal and MFS for Oklahoma State and only the spouse file an Oklahoma return since Taxpayer (Wife) has no OK income. I marked that they wanted to file a different status for OK than Federal, but Proconnect is generating a MFS return in the taxpayers name and for both of their total income. I have coded all income and expenses as either (T, S, or J). What else do I need to do to get the system to recognize that the Taxpayer doesn't need a return only the spouse and should only show the Spouse's (Husband) income on the return.
It will require one tax return that will be federal. Then two separate and different tax returns that will be for the two state tax returns - one for each of (my guess) two clients.
