I do not think Maryland's return is calculating itemized deductions correctly. It is taking only the standard deduction. Even though the itemized is higher.

The Maryland personal return is not allowing me to itemize deductions. It is taking the standard deduction even though itemized is higher.

Maryland follows federal.  So if you take the standard deduction on the federal 1040, you have to take it on MD.  There are going to be plenty of folks on the bubble where it will be more advantageous to force the 1040 to itemize, pay a little more tax to the IRS but get a whole lot more back from MD (or several other states that force you to follow federal).
