Is there a way for inputting a w-2 and then backing out somewhere else, so an invalid w-2 doesn't get flagged when IRS does matching?

I have a W-2 that was for LTD that should not have been issues.   The Employer is not cooperating with me.  I hate to leave it out, but will with a letter if I have to, but thought maybe there was another way to back it out, on say Line 8 of Sch 1 in Part 1.  I tried it, but it only works with an NOL, which is not what I want.  Any thoughts?

Hi arw27,

You can try using this method to back out an amount on Sch 1 line 8:

  • Go to Income > SS Benefits, Alimony, Misc Income
  • Scroll down to the field "Other income (Click on button to expand)"
  • Enter the amount as a negative number, and a description to print on line 8, like "W-2 issued in error"

Make sure to add a description for any amount you enter in this box, as it's required for e-filing.
