Is there a new fee imposed when I create a copy of the originally filed return and used it as a corrected return?
No. Be sure to keep a pdf copy of ALL tax returns you file.
https://accountants.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/amend-tax-return/amend-individual-return-1... shows the steps to do the amended, Including the copy to backup.
Thanks, but my question is actually, which of the original or the copied return should I use for a corrected return (amendment, or any other purpose), in order to avoid a new fee?
After opening the original and making a copy return, should I proceed with the original without a fee, or shoud I close the original and open the copied return for a further processing without a fee?
Original
Thank you.
So my understanding is that keeping a copied return (as the originally filed return) and using the original return to enter new numbers (as amendment, or as a prediction of a scenario) wouldn't incur a new fee. Is it correct?
I do not know for sure. I believe any return of the same type (1040, 1041, 1120,...) that are filed with the same taxpayer ID are included in the same credit used.
