I am trying to fill in the information in the details section below into the Proconnect to complete a like-kind exchange form does anyone know how to do that?

On August 15, 2018, Devon received a parcel of land in Phoenix worth $220,000

in exchange for a parcel of land he owned in Tucson. Because the Tucson parcel

was worth $245,000, he also received $25,000 cash. Devon’s adjusted basis for

the Tucson parcel was $210,000. He originally purchased it on September 18, 2015.

You have posted no Question.

You have a title and explained some facts.

You are not using the software to prepare a client's tax return. You seem to be in a classroom environment for the use of the program. A teacher would never want to learn you asked the internet. That's not how to learn.

I am on my computer at home, not in a classroom. this is a take home assignment. meaning I can use that internet, ask other people and make use of software as I see fit. and a teacher would always encourage you to ask questions. can't learn if you don't ask questions. also, it's not wise to assume what my professor is OK with.

This is NOT the place to get answers to homework questions.  This is a forum for tax pro's who use Intuit software to help one another.

Go to irs.gov & Form 8824 and read the directions.  OR, consult your textbooks (do they exist anymore???) or whatever resource material is provided by your instructor.

first off, ABCtax if you're not going to bother to read the whole question or be helpful, move on a mine your business. second I clear asked about using the proconnection software, which is not in the textbook or on the IRS instructions for form 8824. ONCE MORE, I AM TRYING TO PUT THIS INFORMATION INTO THE SOFTWARE. so I don't need to read any of *your* elitist or assinine remakes

@renjadahr It does not matter if your question is related to an Intuit tax product.  The fact that it is not a question related to professional practice means it will not be answered.  This is a Community for only tax professionals.

It Says ProConnect Community, Not Tax Professional only Community. implying if someone has a question relating to the software. which I do. Someone should be able to answer it. and since you all seem to love tooting your own horn and letting it be known that you are Tax Professional, then clearly someone here should know how to use proconnect to answer this question. So if no Tax Professional here knows how work the Like-kind exchange section of proconnect then that is a whole other issue. If it makes you better pretend the question is about a real person and how would you go about filling it in using proconnect?

THAT attitude is going to stand you in good stead as you go thru life. /S
I do know how to do § 1031 exchanges; my latest was a one property into five properties.
That doesn't mean I have to share that knowledge for FREE.
As far as asinine/elitist - nope, just a tax professional.

Actually, I don't see that you actually ASKED a question.  You made statements.

You've been mislead, which is something that is the fault of Intuit.

Well, abctax you are reflecting, it is not I who was having an attitude. I simply asked a question and you responded with snarky remakes. especially that "barn door" comment. only animals are kept in barns, so it was pretty elitist of you to say something like that and rude. Also, you don't have to FREELY share any of your "knowledge" nor was it necessary for you to respond to a question you didn't want to answer. so next time abctax you should have less of an ATTITUDE and show more professionalism by not leaving condescending comments when deciding not to be helpful. you might find yourself in good stead as you go through life.

Well abctax if you are trying to be more cordial I am trying to do a like kind exchange. this is the information i was trying to put into proconnect

"On August 15, 2018, Devon received a parcel of land in Phoenix worth $220,000
in exchange for a parcel of land he owned in Tucson. Because the Tucson parcel
was worth $245,000, he also received $25,000 cash. Devon’s adjusted basis for
the Tucson parcel was $210,000. He originally purchased it on September 18, 2015."

if you don't know how to do that or don't feel free to share then that is fine. but having an attitude about it isn't helpful.

@renjadahr Assuming you are paying for the use of the software, you should contact support tomorrow.  I am certain they will be happy to help you. The number is 1-800-446-8848.

The reference to barn door is not meant to be derogatory or condescending.  It's figurative about Intuit not having the proper control in place as I'm sure you can read from the context and it's never directed ***at*** you.

Before you question @abctax55's technical knowledge, you may like to click on her profile and check out the helpful votes she has received and the number of questions she has responded throughout all the years.  She didn't earn her "AllStars" badge for nothing.

One of the rules of this forum is that only questions related to professional practices will be answered.  In fact, some tax professionals do try to post questions related to their CPE courses but those are not entertained either.

BTW, @renjadahr, the number @poolcleaner gave you will probably not be able to support you because that's only for commercial products and your access is given via a separate Education Program.  There is only an email address for technical support; my understanding is that support for the use of PTO is meant to be covered by your professor/lecturer.
