Educator expenses aren't flowing from federal to Maryland state return in Proconnect

My client, a teacher, has educator expenses of $300. But those aren't flowing to the Maryland return at all (note: Maryland limits these to $250), and there isn't a place or way, at least that I can find, to override this in ProConnect.

MD's return starts with federal AGI. Educator expenses are a deduction to arrive at AGI.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

Thank you. I realized this like two hours after posting that question -- the confusing part was that last year's return, not done by me -- listed an additional $250. Guess I'll be asking if someone wants to do an amended return for the state.

Last year MD allowed an additional educator expense deduction, over and above the federal.

I don't know if they still do. My one teacher client is now retired.

You'd find it in the MD Instructions for Subtractions from Income.

Thanks again -- this is literally my only teacher client, so I'll have to check that out. I couldn't find any place in the software to change it, so I'll research if that went away for 2024.
