Do I need to be a certified tax preparer to use Intuit ProConnect to prepare and efile clients' tax returns? Or, can we use our SSN to sign as preparer?

No, you don't have to be certified to be a preparer but you are required to have a PTIN to prepare returns as a paid preparer.

To represent clients, you generally need to be a credential preparer.  Non-credentialed prepares have limited representation rights for clients whose returns they prepared.

If you are not a credentialed preparer, you should also refer to your state's regulations as some have their own licensing requirements.
