Verify economic impact payments

Is there an IRS website that a tax professional can sign up for to verify how much a client received in economic impact payments?  Is it possible that a client hasn't received the second stimulus, files their taxes and receive a recovery rebate credit, then get the stimulus in a separate payment?

No, not yet.  We can only hope.

Probably, as this roll-out is almost as much of a mess as the first one was.  And the "overlapping" the filing of returns soon doesn't *help*.   I actually feel for the IRS - they didn't ask for this.

You would pull their Account transcript.

Stimulus info can be found at these links:

At this point, you turned the stimulus money into part of their tax return, so the rebate credit creates a net positive or negative tax return amount. Is that what you are asking?

The Draft Instructions specifically tell taxpayers that they can look it up using the first link that was given above.

Personally, I think I am going to ask the clients to give me either (a) both 1444 forms, or (b) a printout from that website dated AFTER January 15th (the last date the IRS can send out advance credits for the second credit).

I may accept their verbal amount if they say they received the FULL credits for BOTH payments.  But if they claim less, I want proof.

"But if they claim less, I want proof"

They can claim less because they didn't qualify for the full amount (phase out). I think you are referring to those who expect you to file for the difference, right? Because their Account Transcript should show why they didn't get the full amount otherwise, even though a larger amount got credited, if they had, for instance, child support owed.

I earlier posted this link to an account transcript image:

These links don't say how much was received in stimulus payments, only the date that it was recieved.

The view your tax account is only for payments you made to the IRS.

You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot drown it. However, you can show it how to drown itself.
