Until this year my CNA caregiver was issued a 1099 by John Hancock long term care insurance.
The insurance ran out and I now pay her as an Independant contractor.
Can I now issue a 1099 to her?
You’ve come to an Intuit site supporting tax professionals, and you may be looking for support as an individual taxpayer. Please visit the TurboTax Help site for support. Where, you may be directed to the rules on paying household help, issuing a W-2, and filing Schedule H with your 1040.
Your log in here is also going to work at the Turbo Tax community, by the way.
Like others have suggested you should ask Turbo Tax for support. Be aware that Special rules apply to workers who perform in-home services for elderly or disabled individuals (caregivers). Caregivers are typically employees of the individuals for whom they provide services because they work in the homes of the elderly or disabled individuals and these individuals have the right to tell the caregivers what needs to be done.
