I would like to see a "to do" diagnostic for missing items that were input in the prior year. For example, say a client had student loan interest or a 1099-R for early retirement distributions and I had NOT input those items in the current year, the software would prompt me in the diagnostic screen to show those items as "to do's." This would alert me that I might be missing items in the return that I had last year. This will help errors be caught before being filed and avoid mistakes and filing amended returns.

This is such a helpful tool that I have used in other software.  Now using Lacerte and I really miss having this tool.  Please, Please, Please add this to Lacerte 2022.

This is already in Lacerte.  The missing data utility.  You right click on a field and mark it as missing data.  The field is then framed with red dashes.  There is an icon to be able to print out or email the list of missing items.

The utility I am looking for is that Lacerte would automatically put a carrot in the corner of an input field where there was a data entered the prior year, but no data has yet been input in the current year, and create a "To Do" list.  For example, without this utility, you might blast through the tax return not addressing an HSA distribution, because the client did not go online and download the tax forms and did not provide it to you.  So it might be missed.  If this utility was in place, it would show up in a "To Do" diagnostic listing, that there had been input in this field in the prior year.  It is also a tool to find input fields that are in a strange place such as mineral tax credits.  You could link on the "To Do" diagnostic and it would take you to that input field that was used the prior year.
