    Workers Compensation Settlement

    My client sued his company and won. The lawyer took a big portion of the settlement. Can he deduct the lawyer's fee from the amount he reports?

    What is he reporting?   What did he get paid for?

    Since workers compensation is not taxable, expenses to collect it are nondeductible.
