The tax client wants to contribute to a Roth IRA for 2018. He has already filed his 2018 return. Do I need to file an amended return to report this contribution?

You would not have to amend it unless it created a credit for Retirement savers credit.  Then you may want to.  If you do not amend I would still put it into the tax software to keep track of basis in case they take a distribution out before age 59 1/2.
