Taxpayer received 1099-G from District of Columbia for Paid Family Leave benefits. According to DC website, these benefits are taxable on DC return.
Paid Family Leave Taxability | otr (dc.gov)
However, when entering on 1099-G screen in Lacerte, the only option is to list it as "Unemployment Compensation", for which DC does not tax as of 2021.
On Form DC-40, line 13 (Subtractions for Unemployment Insurance), Lacerte is subtracting the amount I included in 1099-G screen for Paid Family Leave, as it thinks it's Unemployment.
I then went to screen 51.321 (DC State Modifications) and tried to override the Unemployment Insurance Benefits subtraction to zero it out using a "0" or "-1" and neither changed DC-40 line 13.
Anyone else encounter this issue with Lacerte and know how to solve?
My only option is to put "$1" in the override screen, which does change the subtraction on line 13 to be just $1 instead of the full PFL, but it really should be zero, and not sure if that $1 would flag as an issue with DC OTR.
