PDF attachments

We have a client in multiple states.  One of the states is asking for a form to be attached and it is a critical diagnostic.  I thought years ago, you just had to go to page 4.4 and check the box to send pdf attachment with XXX return and then use the drop down to tell it which form should be sent.

Now it seems that this is not clearing the critical diagnostic.  Are we really supposed to print that form to pdf and attach the form on page 4.4?  It just seems like an extra step and waste of time to do that if we can just check the box and it will attach the necessary forms. 

We have already checked the option in settings under user options to auto generate and attach pdfs to efiles.

Apparently, Lacerte/PTO automatically attach the return for some states but not for others.  Critical diagnostics would be your guide.

If you have a critical diagnostic, the Link for form and Form line or instruction reference dropdown works the same way as any other attachment; it only denotes the form/schedule which the PDF attachment supports and the PDF will still need to be uploaded.
