when in client tabs you highlight the client and click the client status icon at the top brings up the client status window. when you check mark the lock return and click okay it errors out that it can't perform all the operations because client is in use by the person trying to lock it.
only happening on partnership, s-corp and fiduciary modules.
this issue started last week. before users are able to lock the return from this window.
as a work around users can right clock lock return works and you can also lock it from the client window.
Hi @M1ndH4ck443 This unexpected behavior has been reported to development for further review (2024 Client Unlock F4 Indicates File in Use When Checked). I'll reply to this thread with updates when they are available.
Workaround:
From the client list, right-click and Lock Return.
any idea of when this will get fix?
Thank you for asking this question, this has been driving me mad since one of my users reported it.
This is only my 2nd tax season doing IT for a CPA, so i'm still trying to learn the quarks of Lacerte
I am also have that same issue. Message says "Client in use".
@jrescpa1 that is a different issue. Look at https://accountants.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/form-1040/client-already-use-another-user-...
NEVERMIND: I found somewhere you could right click to LOCK return. I right clicked and saw I could "remove REP lock" and did; this fixed the issue. I would like to know how REP lock got added. I didn't even know you could right click and take actions.
ORIGINAL REPLY: My reply is a month down the road; issue still exists, but not for all of my clients. I receive this message: "Client return cannot be locked because client is locked for REP processing" but it's been REPd and I've eFiled the returns (FED, AZ, CA, CO) and they've all been accepted.
I've closed and restarted program; I've updated MY ACCOUNT online for eFile status; I cannot lock this most recent client.
Try use F4 when you are on the client in the listing. That gives more "things to do and see."
