Taxpayer received 8996 forms from the Qualified Opportunity Funds he invested in.
Do these need to be attached to his 1040? I'm assuming the QOF's already filed the 8996's with their 1120's, but if so, why did they send them to my individual taxpayer?

They have the information your guy needs for his 8997 (Screen 91).
I'm confused - I don't see any information on the 8996 that's needed for the individual 1040 (except for the EIN...)

Yes, the EIN (and a paper for your file showing it's an actual QOF).
