Form 8962 - Correcting 1095-A

If there is an incorrect form 1095-A with zeros or blanks in column B (SLCSP) per the instructions from Healthcare.gov, you are to use the correct amount, not zero for this line.  When you do this and all of the entries in column A & B are the same amounts, it automatically answers the question on form 8962, line 10 to “yes” and only uses annual totals on line 11 of this form.  However, the IRS is looking for the monthly information on lines 12-23 and will send a notice if it is not there.  Please save us the trouble of responding to an IRS notice and give us a way to override the answer on line 10 to “no”.

Zero or blank isn't the same as incorrect; it's the same as "not determined." You can (and do) use the Marketplace website to get the info you need for "SLCSP" and use that in the tax prep, if the form you are working with has zero or blank or is otherwise incorrect. The reasons include there was nothing to determine, or you had life changes that affect the column variably (different amounts for specific months). There isn't really an automated way to address it when Annually doesn't apply, unless you provide the missing info.

"line 10 to “yes” and only uses annual totals on line 11 of this form. However, the IRS is looking for the monthly information on lines 12-23"

It's not that the two columns are the same; it's that the Rows are the same. Every month being the same means Line 10 applies.

"If your correct applicable SLCSP premium is not the same for all 12 months, check the “No” box and continue to lines 12 through 23."

"Line 11—Annual Totals
Note. If you checked the “Yes” box on line 10 and you are completing line 11, do not complete lines 12 through 23. Once you complete line 11, skip to line 24."

I understand all of that.  There is no way to override the automatic checking based on the entries on form 1095-A.  THAT IS THE PROBLEM!

YES, PLEASE FIX THIS>>.... I have just received 8 notices because the monthly allocation was not done.  I had to put the SLCSP amount in column B because the 1095-A was blank.  And yes, all the numbers are the same in column b so therefore PS does NOT do the monthly allocation.

The original poster is RIGHT this needs to be fixed.
