    Form 706 & CA reporting

I am filing a Form 706 for an estate that is over $11,700,000, (died in 2021).  How do I file the CA return and pay the taxes due to CA? Can I do this in Lacerte?

You don't. CA does not have estate tax.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

When did CA get rid of their estate tax?

There is currently no estate tax, inheritance tax, or generation skipping transfer tax in California for any person with a date of death as of January 1, 2005 or after.

Under the old law, CA estate tax was a "pickup tax".  When federal repealed the state credit, CA estate tax ended.

There are enough living people to tax in CA.

I come here for kudos and IRonMaN's jokes.
