Is there a way to enter return prepared by someone else in Lacerte?
Just want the history for next year, I only have PDF file tax returns.
Thanks! any help is appreciated
Key it in. There is no import from pdf.
This is good practice with the program. If you are on REP, use all 9's for the primary SSN or EIN and there will be no charge. There is also no need to do as much detail. I would list all the 1099s and W2s, since they will be shown in the organizer. If there is a C or E or F, I would just enter a net number. If there are depreciation items, I would do the work now to get them right.
I like the idea of practice. Sometimes I learn how things about input or taxes when I see other preparers files.
But this time of year, when time is tight, I see if the client is comfortable with getting the electronic file. Often, they are not.
I agree with @George4Tacks - especially if there's depreciation involved.
But, IF you just want the totals for comparison to show on the 'tax summary', you can enter amounts from the prior year on Screen 48.
Thank you all is great information its a bit challenging, really appreciate
