And the parents' return will need to be paper filed. It will take a long time for the amendment to get posted in the system.

Yes, the kid needs to amend his tax return.

Whether you do it, the kid does it, or somebody else does it is up to the kid.

Either that, or e-file without the kid and amend later?  And how much is he worth anyway -- $500 ?  Maybe just cut his allowance by the $3,200 he's trying to scam.
