Does anybody have any issue when click the lacerte update under the tools and check for update, it pops an error message saying "cannot check for updates at this time. Please try again later."?
Maybe a silly question, but have you tried rebooting your computer?
Yes, reboot and reinstall. But problem still exists.
If you have rebooted and reinstalled the only other suggestion I would have is to try shutting off your antivirus software before you try updating.
I did that too. but no luck... sigh....

Good morning. The root cause of this pop up is being researched. In the meantime, try using Web Set Up through the Start menu.
I am also having the same problem for the past couple of days. Rebooted, nothing. I also receive a similar message if I try to turn off the background updates.
I found the hard way but it resolves the issue.
unistall the software completely.
reboot the computer
goto lacerte 24tax folder. delete everything except data folder. YOu cannot have old files in the folder left in it.
reboot again
then reinstall the software as fresh and new. It solves the problem.
Lacerte won't update in the background nor can you update manually if you have this error. This is a very critical issue that Lacerte need to resolve it. Because my other compueters are running ok and able to update newer version . But not the computer with this error.
