California Temp ID #'s for Partnerships

Eisenberg
Level 1

California FTB distributed Temporary ID number to partnerships that were not previously required to have one. These numbers are 9 digits, but Lacerte will only accept ID numbers that are 7 (Corporations) or 12 (LLC) digits long.

How do we work through this or is Lacerte going to issue an update?

Great question.  I was wondering the same thing.  I dropped a few of the zeros.  I really should not have done that.

Ha Ha, called FTB about and they assured me people have been e-filing with these 9 digit numbers.

I wonder if it was your e-filing that you are worried about because I definitely cannot e-file with it as is!

Good luck

9 digits works for me, the program adds leading zeroes on the 565, making it an eleven digit number.

I got one of these and have always been a sole proprietorship tax preparer (30+ years).  Had to call them up to cancel the number.  Computer glitch when they were doing something to satisfy a new CA requirement.

I see where it adds the leading zeros on the form but the critical diagnostic still exists.

The CD goes away when I enter the leading zeros into the entry field.

I worry about the filings because FTB does not give guidance on this- had an agent tell me today that I should paper file all these instead of adding zeros, though that hardly seems like a permanent solution.

thanks for your feedback.
