Why can't the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC input screen carry income amounts to the return? You can enter depreciation and assign an asset to a specific form and activity, so I thought you would be able to do the same with 1099s

You didnt include which software youre using, but you should be able to link a 1099MISC or 1099NEC to the related tax form.
I am using Lacerte, and it says in the instructions that the tax withholding amounts carry to the 1040 but you have to re-enter the income amount in the Sch. C, Sch. F, etc. It would be nice to eliminate the double entry by letting the income flow to the form you choose.
