Non-Resident Employment Lawsuit Awards Received Several Years Later with Withholding Taxes

California Attorneys frequently file Labor Law cases to recovery back wage penalties and fees which are later paid to current and/or former employees.  The payments include, in separate categories, including wages from the prior years' employment, penalties, and withholding taxes for Federal and respective State(s).  Inputting the respective data for this totally Resident employee from other states later payments may require the part-year/other state data forms for taxpayers who are full-year resident of other new jurisdictions. The current part-resident/ non-resident data input form requires only some of the data but appears to request more than required.  The additional possible data inputs can easily product critical error notifications in the Lacerte Tax Software.  Improvements to the Form, and/or additional clarification to the input Form might be considered.
