Lacerte 2024 — Form 5471 not generating Schedule C and Schedule F for Category 5a filer

Hello,

I’m working on Form 5471 for a Category 5a filer in Lacerte 2024, and the program is not generating Schedule C and Schedule F.

According to Lacerte’s built-in requirements, these parts are marked as not required for Category 5a filers.
However, per IRS instructions, both Schedule C (Income Statement) and Schedule F (Balance Sheet) are required for Category 5a filers.

Here are the details:

  • Return type: Individual return (Form 1040) with Form 5471 attached

  • Category: 5a filer (U.S. shareholder of a CFC)

  • Input: All shareholder and corporation information entered, including balance sheet and income data

  • Issue: Schedules C and F do not appear or print even though IRS instructions say they must be included

  • What I tried: Verified filer category, checked “Generate all required schedules,” and reviewed all Form 5471 input screens — no change

Has anyone found a way to force Lacerte to generate Schedules C & F for Category 5a?
Or is this a software limitation that still needs to be addressed in Lacerte 2024?

Thank you!
— Sylvia D.

Hi Sylvia,

Welcome to the Community!

Thanks for posting and sharing those details. We understand how important it is to ensure forms are generated correctly. According to the IRS Instructions for Form 5471 (page 7) — Table of Required Information — Schedules C and F aren't currently listed as required for Category 5a filers. If you’ve found specific IRS guidance showing otherwise, please share the reference and page number here. We’d be happy to review it and, if confirmed, submit this to our development team for further review. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and helping ensure the software stays aligned with current filing requirements.

We look forward to seeing you around the Community!
