Is it necessary to add a preparer to an EFIN with the IRS somehow? If so how do I accomplish that? We have always just had one preparer but are wanting to add one.

No. The EFIN is for the office location. New Location = New EFIN. Just add a new preparer

So to verify, I only need to add the new preparer within the Lacerte program and don't actually have to take any action with the IRS?  I don't have to add the new preparer to our e-services account?  Thanks!

Your new preparer does need their own PTIN, but the office only need on EFIN.

If the principals, responsible parties of the EFIN holder change, then you need to change that with IRS. Otherwise, as Grorge said, just add a preparer in Lacerte.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

I'm unable to modify or delete an existing preparer.  On the Setup screen, the box to Modify/Delete is grayed out.  I am a new Lacerte user and my EFIN application with the IRS is in process.  Is this reason I cannot modify or edit this information.  It currently shows only the preparer's first name.
