how do I code an asset so that the depreciation is reported as a cost of goods sold

For an entity, in the main depreciation screen, under Form (Ctrl+T), pick COGS.

For an individual, I think you have to set the Form to 4562 only, and make a manual entry in the Other Costs (Ctrl+E) line of Screen 16.
