how do i trigger the officer compensation reported on the 990 to flow through and reported on for 199?

We need more context to be able to help you troubleshoot. This background info helps us build sample returns to help you troubleshoot. So you're filing a non-profit return in California, right? I setup a dummy return and input $100K of base comp for an officer on screen 38.1. I show it generating 1) in expenses in the 990 Part I, 2) 990 Part VII in the list of officers detail, 3) on the CA 1999 Part I Line 9 and 4) CA 199 Part II Line 11.
