Upload from what? Another software? A Lacerte file from another preparer? A pdf copy?

A scanned copy of last years return - rather than re-entering all the info

Use eye to brain to hands to fingers to keyboard as the import method. Unless you are amending, you can put in some summary things instead of all the detail, e.g. 1 interest income, lump all Sch C & E expenses instead of listing.
PDF to tax return has never existed for any year, current or past.

This will NOT create a full 1040 from a 1040 pdf.
Your links are for importing other data into an existing 1040.

You're right, 1040 isn't on the list of

    Lacerte Tax Scan and Import

    Sold separately

it's funny that they wouldn't support it when it's so basic. I would guess that they're currently working on the components separately.

They've had Scan and Import for 10+ years. I don't think this is being worked on at all.
