I've seen several articles saying if your 2020 tax return is still pending, you’ll need to enter $0 for your 2020 adjusted gross income when electronically filing for 2021. Do we have to do something special in Lacerte?

No. That's for consumers/self-prepared such as TurrrdoTax.
