To calculate the depreciation of home office, in the Depreciation screen enter the property description eg. home office. In the Form column, select 10=Business use of home. Select the appropriate activity entered in the 8829 screen in which to calculate the home office depreciation for. Select "4" for Buildings. Fill in the date placed in service, cost (not including land value) and method. Create another property for the land. In the Form column, select the same activity as the entry for the home office. Complete the rest of the fields. Method for land is "99".
Make sure you make the necessary entries in the Business Use of Home screen such as the business use area and total home area. The program will calculate the depreciation on 8829, Part III.
