Federa 5227 E-Filing Checkbox

NancyJ

We have an external system that generates the xml files for importing into the Lacerte Software. We are gearing up to do more e-filing and my end user community has requested that I add logic to automatically check the Federal 5227 Checkbox in the Client Information Section (see attached screen shot). Last year I asked a question and was told how to show the codes when on a given screen. However, since this is a checkbox, that does not appear to work. How can I know what the code is to auto-populate this particular checkbox. TYIA for any assistance.

Hi,

There doesn't seem to be any codes associated with those fields.   When I do "Show Codes" in Lacerte, the fields for that part of the screen is blank.    Maybe someone at Intuit can assist you with this.

Best regards,

Rick Kamp, EA

Hi NancyJ,

I did a test on my end and it looks like the field you're looking for is:

SeriesPrefixCodeSuffixDescription
1010001000421000US-STI

This field contains all the returns set for e-filing, so you'd need to add on "US-STI". So if it currently is "US,CA" like in my test, you would set it to "US,CA,US-STI". I have not tried to write to this field myself, but don't see why it wouldn't work.

Let me know if this helps!

Best,
Steffan

Thank you, Steffan. I will give that a try. Likely will not be able to see if that works for me until next week with PTO and the Monday holiday. Appreciate your assistance!

@Steffan - below is a snippet of what I tried based on the information you provided. It did not appear to check the box on the return after the import though. Does this look as you would expect, or do you see anything I have wrong in this setup? Appreciate any additional assistance!
