I have a client who was a firefighter. Here's the situation: 1) He's getting a pensions from that job, but no health insurance premiums are being paid out of that pension. 2) However he also worked for the TX Highways dept and insurance premiums were paid out of that pension. Even though it's not the related pension that is paying his health insurance premiums, can he make use of that credit because he was a Public Safety Officer?
Are you saying that I would download the Form 8689 from the IRS site and then attach it as a PDF to the ProSeries file and then I can transmit it electronically?

I think what you're talking about is how you can keep a rejected return from being late. That is not what I'm concerned about. My client had a 1095-A that they hadn't told me about. Their return was rejected and they're not sure how quickly they can find the form. I'm wondering how quickly I have to get them finished before I have to file a paper return. I think that if I don't fix and transmit it and transmit it in 5 days, I'll have to have them file a paper return, which is not a good outcome. I think my only question left is whether that means 5 business days or 5 calendar days. Anyone know for sure? - Ky

If the tp claims a child in 2020 that was claimed by their ex-wife in 2019, does the tp deserve the stimulus amounts for the child? In this case, the tp entered the correct amounts of EIP he received, but then the IRS disallowed the credit because he hadn't claimed the child in 2019. If we protest this because he actually claimed the child in 2020, who would the IRS side with? Has anyone else dealt with this situation? - Ky
I'm finding vague or conflicting information about this. I know long haul truck drivers get to take special expenses on their schedule C, like 80% deduction on meals/Per diem. What about these items:...

I have a HOH client. They made $28,066 in wages. She went to college and her 1098-T shows $17,895 in box 1 (tuition) and $6,444. in box 5 (scholarships). Her son/dependent was 21 in tax year and also went to school. His 1098-T shows $53,159. in box 1 and $64,374. in box 5. I would think that the difference between box 1 and box 5 for the son's 1098-T would be taxable income, but that doesn't automatically populate in ProSeries. Am I missing something or do I have to enter it manually in the Wages, Salaries & Tips worksheet?
