Alright so this one is kind of a tough one, but I'll try to explain. My old boss/partner was the registered accountant with intuit and the 2FA goes through a cell phone number which has since been shut off. (He passed last tuesday). I know the login info and I can access the email he used, but obviously no phone. Well i called intuit today to see if because I payed the license fee for the year, over 6k, if I could get a refund because it wouldn't be used not even once. She said I sent you an email, read it and call us back if you need too, well it was talking about transferring a business, and needing letters, and articles of incorporation, and whatnot. On top of that, if I can get them to agree to a full/partial refund, thats was payed for on a credit card that is now closed...I know this 12 problems in 1 but i could really use that 6k and i was supposed to get payed back as he made money this year.

Can you get the phone and number reactivated? That would be worth a try.
If not if the phone number is available (not sure how long before they go back into service after being discontinued) you could get another phone and request the same number - I was able to request a specific number when we got cell phones in the past - that might also work.
Other than that jumping through Intuit's hoops might be your only choice. It's possible that the person incharge of the previous owners estate, might be able to help authorize intuit to assign another number as you being able to operate might be important to maintaining assets of the estate.
Other than that I have no helpful ideas - this was just a few minutes of brainstorming ideas. Good luck ! hope something works.
Oh - and I think it's worth a few days of trying to get access to the current purchased program, as purchasing another copy under your own name and then trying to get a refund on the original might be problematic, ALTHOUGH there might be a path for the Estate Representative to request that refund on behalf of the estate? (another idea popped up while I was typing)
Hope this works out for you.

Thank you very much for your reply! I really do appreciate you taking the time to think on this and write back. Unfortunately, your solutions won't help me here. You see if the estate receiver thought she could get any more money out of the poor guy, she would, and she'd keep it. I'm still not 100% convinced she didn't kill him, ya know, that kind of wife. The cell phone idea would work but the carrier that he went through said they don't recycle numbers for 6 to 8 months. So im still at step one, arguing with intuit on the phone.

You are given the options of:
Send to email (and you said you so have access to that?). I can't get it to work, so I use my cell number.
or
"verify other way, but takes longer..." (something to that effect). I have never tried this one, but you might consider it.
Good luck

Was he a boss, or was he a Partner? What type of entity was this, and how do you come into play with that entity?
The executor cancelled the cell phone in a week? That is unusual. Have you asked the executor to reinstate the cell number (from what I've heard, they can re-install a cancelled cell number within a short period of time)?
Why did YOU pay the fee, rather than the business or your boss? That doesn't make sense.
You closed your credit card in the last month or two? That seems like a rather odd coincidence for this situation.
If you were supposed to be paid back, have you asked the executor to pay you back?
I don't mean to accuse of you anything, but there are so many oddities with this situation it seem rather suspicious.

Maybe they have changed it since the last time I tried that, but when I had tried it, it asked for more information from the last time I filed with TurboTax.

I'd laugh if that weren't just a sad, sad commentary on Intuit's priorities.
