Was he a boss, or was he a Partner?  What type of entity was this, and how do you come into play with that entity?

The executor cancelled the cell phone in a week?  That is unusual.  Have you asked the executor to reinstate the cell number (from what I've heard, they can re-install a cancelled cell number within a short period of time)?

Why did YOU pay the fee, rather than the business or your boss?  That doesn't make sense.

You closed your credit card in the last month or two?  That seems like a rather odd coincidence for this situation.

If you were supposed to be paid back, have you asked the executor to pay you back?

I don't mean to accuse of you anything, but there are so many oddities with this situation it seem rather suspicious.
