I have a client asking if I can create and file a 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC for someone they hired while I also preparing and file their own (the client's) tax return. My understanding is that this is something that must be done through the IRS portal or through third-party software like Quickbooks. This started as a simple self-employed tax return until they remembered they had hired someone to help on a job and now are insisting that I should be able to do this.
